Psychology A level at Greenford High School has been designed to provide a broad introduction to the scope and nature of Psychology as a science. We follow the AQA (A) exam board. The emphasis is on applying knowledge and understanding rather than just acquiring knowledge, thereby developing analysis, evaluation and critical thinking skills. It is therefore essential that you are confident with science based subjects, as well as English language to help you with extended pieces of writing. As research methods is a large part of A Level Psychology you also need be competent and confident in Mathematics. As the A Level is linear you will be studying Psychology over two years and sit your final exams at the end of the two years. In years 12 and 13 there are a range of topic-based options which bring together explanations from different approaches and engage students in issues and debates in contemporary psychology. These include topics such as Memory, Attachment, Aggression and Schizophrenia. At the end of year 12 you will sit examinations to ensure you are able to progress into year 13.
