Whether you want to study a one-year AS Level or a two-year A Level, this could be the course for you. A Level students will take assessments in all three of the following components: Component 1: Breadth Study (The Quest for Political Stability: Germany, 1871–1991) What's assessed? - The study of significant historical developments over a period of around 100 years and associated interpretations. This option allows students to study in breadth, issues of change, continuity, cause and consequence in this period, through the following key questions: How was Germany governed and how did political authority change and develop? How effective was opposition? Component 2: Depth Study (The Making of Modern Britain, 1951–2007). What's assessed? - The study in depth of a period of major historical change or development and associated primary evidence. This option provides for the study in depth of the key political, economic, social and international changes which helped to mold Britain in the second half of the 20th Century. It explores concepts such as government and opposition, class, social division and cultural change. It encourages students to reflect on Britain’s changing place in the world, as well as the inter-relationship between political policies, economic developments and political survival.
