Year 1 The study of Mechanics and Materials and their application in industry and medicine. Forces and Energy, Speed and Acceleration, mechanical testing of products, the flow of liquids and designer materials for medical uses. The study of waves, DC electricity and the wave / particle nature of light. Year 2 The study of further Mechanics (circular motion), electric and magnetic fields and particle physics. The study of thermal energy, nuclear decay, oscillations, astrophysics and cosmology. Future pathways: A level study in Physics develops a range of analytical, numerical and higher level thinking skills. A level Physics is a requirement entry subject for a range of Engineering degrees and is a subject that can lead to a job in research and development or Information Technology. It can also help you to get a career in finance, telecommunications or the electrical industry. Physicists also work in medicine, astronomy, meteorology and teaching.
