Year 12 units (three modules) There are 3 modules in each component taking Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics to greater depths. Further Pure 1 covers more pure mathematics. For their second module students will take whichever of Statistics 1 and Mechanics 1 they are not studying in the AS level Mathematics course. The third module will be Decision Mathematics 1. Year 13 units: (three modules) It will be possible to choose from a range of modules covering further aspects of pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics according to student’s interests and careers intentions. Future pathways: Mathematics qualifications are highly regarded in many areas of work and an A Level in Further Mathematics can lead to higher education courses in Mathematics, Engineering and Science (particularly Physics) but is also an impressive indicator of intellectual quality in many other fields. Finance, engineering, logistics, management, science, social sciences and system analysis are all areas looking for well qualified mathematicians.
