You will complete mandatory units in: Communication; Personal Development; Equality & Inclusion; Duty of Care; Safeguarding; The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker; Person Centred Care; Health and Safety; Handling Information. You will complete optional units relevant to the workplace setting where you are completing your work experience. You will also have lessons in maths and English which would either be Functional Skills or GCSEs depending on your grades on entry.

If you work in a health and social care setting for at least 2 days a week, and your employer is happy for an assessor to visit to assess you at work, it may be possible to use this instead of work placement, depending on your role. Your employer would need to allow you to attend college on a Friday. All units will be internally assessed using different methods, including observation, a portfolio of evidence, written tasks and questioning.
