A Level music is intended to be stimulating and enriching for students and teachers alike. The course will develop the performance skills (solo and/or ensemble), composing and analytical skills by studying selected pieces of music from 1600 to the present day. The course is excellent preparation for higher education courses in music, but it is equally valuable for non-specialists as a second or third choice to complement your other subject choices. You will be expected to complete independent learning tasks that build upon your classwork as well as listening more broadly to a range of music, both live and recorded. We focus upon developing your theoretical skills within popular and Baroque contexts by the end of the A2, and encourage you to develop as a performer by taking part in a variety of external and in-house performances. An A Level in music is highly valued by many as it demonstrates your willingness to dedicate your time to continuously improving your abilities
