The course is aimed at learners who are ambitious about working with animals and wishing to progress onto further study or into employment within Animal Care or related industries.This course offers you experience in animal care, providing a specialised approach for progression on the Level 3 Diploma or into employment in the animal sector. You will also get exciting experience of routine animal handling on a weekly basis, enabling you to develop skills in domestic and exotic animal care.While studying at Lackham in our animal centre, farm park and grooming parlour, you will work with a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, farm livestock, ponies, donkeys and exotic species such as meerkats and lemurs.Various organisations and events will be visited during the course of the year to allow you to develop a realistic understanding of the animal industry, such as Crufts dog show, welfare centres, zoos and much more. To watch a video with even more information, please click here.

Entry requirements

Trips and visits to shows and other animal related events are important aspects of the programme, allowing you to appreciate the diverse range of career opportunities and organisations within the sector.You will be asked for a contribution of £100, payable at the start of the course, to cover visits and guest speakers.Polo shirts are available to purchase from the college for £6.00 each and must be worn during all practical sessions.You will also need to purchase your own personal protective equipment.
