This is a recognised, national qualification to enable assistant practitioners (or those wishing to become one) to demonstrate they have the knowledge and competence to work within Health and Social Care settings. You will need to be working in or towards a supervisory role in order to undertake this course. This course is targeted at assistant practitioners and those who wish to become assistant practitioners and the qualification is part of an apprenticeship framework, developed and funded by Skills for Health. The diploma focuses on the consolidation of learning and on embedding consistently good practice in core areas, as well as the development of additional knowledge and skills. A variety of different topic areas will be covered throughout the course, relevant to the particular work role. These may include: Assessing patients Understanding health principles Effective team working Generally speaking, participants will learn within their own work setting. Assessment will be through written assignments and demonstrated competency in the workplace. Competence based units will be assessed through work-based practice and all evidence must be collated into a portfolio that demonstrates practice and knowledge and meets a range of qualification assessment criteria.
