English Skills L1/L2 - 12 week course Entry requirementsCompletion of an Initial Assessment and interviewWhat knowledge/skills will I learn on the course?You will learn the skills needed to read write and verbally communicate both socially and in a work environment.You will learn how to:You will be introduced to a number of techniques that will help you to read and write with more confidence.You will be find out how to confidently layout different types of documents with increasing accuracy. You will discuss a range of topics in a familiar and supportive group setting.Your tutor will give you more information about the course at your first sessionHow will I be taught and will there be any work outside the class?You will be taught in a classroom setting and work in a small friendly group. You will work using a range of materials including IT. You will need to practise the skills and knowledge you learn in the classroom by regularly completing work at home. How will I be assessed?Your tutor will assess your progress over the 12 week period through observation and constructive feedback on all reading and writing activities. You will build a body of work over the 12 weeks that will be stored in a portfolio assessed and entered for an Award. What kind of feedback will I get from my tutor? You will be provided with weekly feedback on your progress and provided with achievable targets that will ensure your progression towards achieving the award.Does the course have any features I should be aware of?You would benefit from having Internet connection to access the Colleges Virtual Learning Environment. IT access is also available from the Colleges i CLICK Centre.You will also have access to online Skillsbuilder English resources which will enable you to extend your learning to anywhere that has internet access.
