English Skills E3/L1 - 20 week course Entry requirementsCompletion of an Initial Assessment and interview is essential.What knowledge/skills will I learn on the course?This 20 week course offers two pathways to achievement: an Entry 3/Level 1 Themed Award in English or an Entry 3 / Level 1 full Functional Skills qualification.Both pathways offer you the opportunity to identify develop and gain the skills necessary to express yourself accurately in everyday life and work through writing reading and/or speaking and listening. On completion of the course you will know how to confidently write a variety of texts used in everyday life. Progressing through each stage of the course you will also steadily develop your reading skills and understand the meaning and purpose writing. By working together in small friendly groups you will gain the self-confidence to speak and express your own thoughts ideas and opinions with clarity and self-assurance.You will learn how to:Read and respond to a range of styles and formats written for different audiences and purposes. Write in a range of styles and formats for different audiences and purposes.Speak & Listen in a variety of contexts for a range of purposes.How will I be taught and will there be any work outside the class?You will be taught in a classroom setting and work in small friendly groups. You will work using a range of materials including IT. You will need to practise the skills and knowledge you learn in the classroom by regularly completing work at home.
