What knowledge/skills will I learn on the course? This quali?cation develops a basic knowledge of childcare in early years settings. It covers working with children up to the age of 5 years old. You will learn:The units include subjects such as the value of play roles and responsibilities of carers and volunteers and the importance of developing links in the local community.It is suitable for parents and volunteers who would like to play a part in early years settings such as Pre-schools.Your tutor will give you more information about the course at your first sessionHow will I be taught and will there be any work outside the class? The course is classroom based but there will be a small amount of weekly homework.How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by a portfolio which will be submitted at the end of the course.What kind of feedback will I get from my tutor? Your tutor will give feedback on all your work and you will have a chance to make corrections and improve your work as you progress. Does the course have any features I should be aware of?There may be some paired and group work involved in the course. What do I need to bring with me to class? A pen and paper and a ringbinder folder.How will I give my views on the course?At the end of the course or mid-way through a long course you will be asked to complete an on-line evaluation of your course. Your views are valued by us as they help us to continually review and improve our provision.How do I find out if I can get some support for my learning?Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available to learners who declare a difficulty or disability that may affect their learning. An application for support needs to be filled in and these are available from all centres. The ALS service is available for those who require support in English or Maths are dyslexic deaf or hearing-impaired or for those with mental health or other medical issues.You may also require
