Units to be covered include: • Health issues, physical disorders, nutrition, health and safety, public health, communication and psychological perspectives • Social issues and the rights of the individual, such as equal opportunities and care values. Early Years Services, including child development, caring for children and young people and services available to children Health and Social Care is a well-established vocational course that is popular with students and has a very good record of results. It is a gateway into University or College and the Care sector with related job roles. It is a coursework based qualification. Past students on the course have achieved a 100% pass rate. On this course, you will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills that form the foundation for occupations and professions within Health and Social Care. • Students will have 50 hours in two settings (for the Subsidiary Diploma course) or 100 hours (for the Diploma course) of work experience across at least four different placements. This opportunity will act as a focal point for all other units in the programme, and embed the vocation nature of the qualification, by putting theory into practice. The skills of effective communication and independent research are emphasised throughout the course, together with careers advice and guidance. Many students use this advanced qualification to enter Higher Education on University courses, such as nursing, midwifery, teaching, childhood studies, social work, care worker, health care assistant and psychological therapies, to name but a few. A British Red Cross First Aid Certificate, Food Hygiene Certificate and British Sign Language 1 Course are delivered within this Diploma.
