The BTEC Applied ScienceExtended Certificate qualification leads to one GCE equivalent, graded A to E The course involves the completion of all six units in order to qualify for certification. The six areas of study are: • Fundamentals of Science • Scientific Practical Techniques • Physiology of Human Body Systems • Physiology of Human Regulation and Reproduction • Microbiological Techniques • Genetics and Genetic Engineering Once this qualification is gained, the natural progression is to Science-based HND courses.
