The Plumbing Level 1 Diploma is ideal for students who want to gain knowledge and experience in the trades. It gives a basic overview of all aspects involved in what is needed to become a Plumber, allowing students to gain basic fundamental skills in the trade. Training takes place over 8 hours per week working towards the Plumbing Diploma and 4 hours a week working on Employability and Functional Skills. The vocational course consists of 50% practically and 50% theoretically. Students will also complete a Work Placement as part of the course, allowing them to experience first hand what life is like working in the industry. The Plumbing and Electrical Installation Level 1 Diploma includes training in: Health and Safety Tools and Equipment Plumbing Science Above Ground Drainage Plastic and Copper Pipework Welding Insallation, Repair and Maintenance of Pipework Students also complete Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT at varying levels depending on previous qualification and ability level. Students can be expected to be challenged to achieve as high a qualification as they can. The course also includes work preparation skills and a work experience placement to experience a work environment.
