Golf Academy BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Excellence

This is the second year of the Golf Academy course and is ideal for those seeking to progress their studies from the BTEC 90 credit qualification (2 A level equivalent) onto an Extended Diploma in Performance and Excellence 9 (3 A Level equivalent). Students will study units such as; Technical and Tactical Skills, The Athletes Lifestyle, Sports Injuries, Practical Team Sports, Current Issues in Sport and Analysis of sports Performance. This course has been specifically designed to give recognition to talented golfers, as part of the England Golf Partnerships vision of being 'The Leading Golf Nation in the World by 2020.' It aims to support young male and female elite golfers (aged 16 - 18 at the start of the programme) who can demonstrate the necessary talent, commitment and skill to achieve excellence in golf and who possess a realistic chance of making a career from playing golf. During the two - year programme students work towards a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence). It is important to understand the course has a strong academic focus and will require you to commit yourself from the outset. The Extended Diploma programme encourages the development of playing skills, whilst also providing a good foundation in training, tactical and coaching techniques. Students cover many aspects of the game, from sports nutrition, sports psychology, sports performance and fitness testing to sports coaching, physiology and injury prevention. Much of the structured golf coaching will comprise individual performance targets, dedicated group sessions and personalised physical training.
