Students study five approaches (Social, Cognitive, Psychodynamic, Biological and Learning) at Advanced Subsidiary level to gain a foundation in psychology. At A2, students are then able to develop their understanding through studying two applications of psychology which are Criminology and Health psychology. Finally, students develop a holistic understanding of psychology, from considering conflicting and complementary explanations of clinical issues and major debates. A practical focus is embedded within the course. A series of short and manageable practical experiments and tests accompany the AS approaches and allow students to develop an active knowledge of the scientific aspects of psychology.
