This is an advanced level course which aims to develop and extend the skills the student already has in the foreign language. The course enables students to. develop the knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE level and therefore use Spanish in a wide range of contexts gain a useful insight into another culture and reflect on various aspects of contemporary society enhance their employment prospects facilitate foreign travel and experience the enjoyment and motivation of improving their linguistic level The classes are conducted entirely in Spanish. This syllabus develops the four linguistic skills of listening speaking reading and writing through the media of text books TV listening materials and authentic press sources. Various themes are studied through the medium of Spanish including. Media. TV advertising and communication technology Popular culture. cinema music and fashion trends Healthy living lifestyle. exercise health and wellbeing and holidays Family relationships. relationships within the family friendships and marriage partnerships Homework is set every week and students are expected to do regular personal research and keep up to date with Spanish current events. At the end of the year there are two exams. Unit 1. Listening reading and writing Unit 2. Speaking
