(To be confirmed) Tourism related studies are linked with hospitality operations within a business and management framework whilst the programme also develops skills of analysis judgement communication and decision making. Using an approach which combines management and business specialisms the programme explores contemporary issues in hospitality and tourism and is internationally focused. Tourism and hospitality are global industries and major contributors to national and international economic development. Those who provide hospitality services are increasingly required to understand the motivation and requirements of the visitor. Furthermore accommodation and food and beverage services form an increasingly important part of the tourist experience. The interdependence of the fast paced high customer contact tourism and hospitality sectors provide the focus for this programme. This FdA programme includes a compulsory 48 week work placement which enables students to gain first hand practical experience of operational issues. This will take place during the first 2 years of the course while studying at East Berkshire College.
