Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

You will research many aspects of theatre; how theatre has been influenced and has influenced social and cultural contexts. You will study the theory of influential theatre practitioners and how their work informs theatre practice today. You will examine a range of styles and types of drama to develop your understanding of the art form. You will study different processes involved with the creation of drama and theatre with an aim to creating your experience of the craft of theatre. You will act, devise, rehearse and perform. You will create work for different audiences and different theatre spaces and work on small, short performance projects as well as full length plays. The course is taught by a qualified team with a wealth of professional performance experience. The teaching is through a range of formal classroom activities, trips, library research and through workshops and rehearsals. Students will keep a rigorous journal throughout the two years as well as undertaking written projects throughout the course.

Name: Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Qualification title: BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment At the end of the first year you will have your progress reviewed to ascertain your suitability for completing the extended diploma. The extended diploma is assessed over 18 units over 2 years (a combination of written work, workshops and performance). The course is continually assessed. Some projects are student and staff assessed on criteria set out at the start of the project and some units are externally assessed. You must attend regularly and punctually, achieving at least a pass to achieve the diploma/certificate. Students are awarded pass, merit or distinction, according to their achievement.
