GCE AS Level Computer Studies

On this course you will cover a variety of topics relating to how the computer works. You will also complete a practical project in the second year implementing and documenting a programming solution for a real world problem. On the theory side you will study a variety of topics relating to the how a computer works including characteristics of information systems implications of computer use data transmission and networking hardware software the systems life cycle. Programming is covered in the first year looking at designing solutions to problems structuring procedural programs data types and structures writing and testing programs. In your second year in addition to the project you will study operating systems computer architecture data structure high and low level languages and databases.
