The course has 3 mandatory units and a further 5 craft skill units. Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry -Health, Safety & Welfare in construction -Understanding information, quantities and communication with others -Understanding construction technology -Prepare and use portable power tools -Carry out first fixing operations -Carry out second fixing operations -Carry out structural carcassing operations -Carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work Students are required to attend College over 2 years. On completion you should be able to use hand and powered hand tools to produce and install items such as doors, frames and linings, windows, roofs, fitments and units, partitions and cladding.There will be practical training and assessment in the workshop. Underpinning knowledge is delivered through classwork, assignments, tutorials and lectures. Students will also take part in portfolio building sessions and end of unit exams.On completion of the course you can progress on to Diploma Level 3, preferably with relevant site employment and experience.
