On this 10 week course you will learn current and emerging cutting techniques: -Refreshing basic cutting skills -Current and emerging cutting Trends -How to finish the style -Updating previous knowledge and understanding Throughout this course the student will be expected to build their own portfolio using the techniques that have been learnt. At the end of the 10 weeks a competition will take place to showcase the skills acquired. The students will have the opportunity to gain experience from outside training/speakers which will help to create new ideas for their portfolios.The course will consist of mainly practical sessions with some theory to underpin knowledge and understanding. There will be class discussions about the current and emerging trends and students will be encouraged to research influential stylists who are defining future collections within in the industry whilst building a portfolio to take out to potential or current employers. Your theory and practical work will be continually assessed throughout the course. A portfolio will be built up containing photographic work of styles created. Small projects will be set throughout the course to aid research and to help build your portfolio. Students are expected to meet industry and professional standards, your lecturer will support you informally throughout this process and offer regular feedback to ensure standards are met.Upon completing this course students will have more confidence in their existing skills and abilities as well as being able to use new skills and current techniques within their workplace. These skills will enable progression onto more advanced qualifications such as Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or level 3 Diploma in Hair and Media make up.
