The Higher level course allows students to achieve grades from A* to D. The course runs from September to June, and 2 exams are taken at the end of the year in May/June. There is no coursework for GCSE Maths. We offer daytime and evening classes. Lessons take place once a week starting mid-September for 32 sessions. (Note - the Foundation late start course runs for 24 weeks only). There are usually no lessons during Hampshire school holidays. Skills taught on the course include: -Numbers -Shape, Space and Measures (Geometry) -Statistics & Probability -Algebra -Application of these skills to your daily life -Reasoning and Problem SolvingStudents will be expected to attend weekly lessons which will be delivered as a mixture of taught sessions, group work, pair work and individual tasks. There is also the opportunity to practise past exam papers at appropriate times. There will be an emphasis on developing the ability to use and apply Maths in your daily life, and develop reasoning and problem-solving skills. Students must be prepared to undertake private study.Many level 3 courses and some university courses require a grade C or above in GCSE Mathematics as an entry requirement, and some require a B grade or higher. GCSE Maths at Higher level is also a good preparation for studying Maths at Level 3.
