Anyone with an interest in Music Technology, Composition, Sound Engineering - Recording or preparing for a career - academic path into the music industry. The course is suitable for both those learners with experience of musical instruments - performance and those with no experience of instruments, but with a desire to work with the production of music. To achieve the full award you will need to achieve 180 credits from a mix of mandatory and optional units worth between 10 and 20 credits. Five mandatory units- Listening skills for music technologists - 10 credits Music production techniques - 10 credits - Planning and delivering a music product - 20 credits - Sequencing syss and techniques - 10 credits The sound and music industry - 10 credits - Twelve units which may include- Arranging music - 10 credits Composing music - 10 credits - Marketing and promotion in the music industry - 10 credits Music and society - 10 credits - Music theory and harmony - 10 credits - Sound creation and manipulation - 10 credits - The music freelance world - 10 credits Special subjects investigation - 10 credits - In addition, you will also learn some skills that are required in any career choice, including health and safety, confidence building, social and practical skills and functional skills (including English, Maths or ICT).
