This course is for you if you want a career in the Prison Service, Fire and Rescue Service, Paramedics, Security Services, Customs and Excise, the Armed Forces or the Police. The course provides an in - depth overview of the skills required and helps you to develop the mental and physical abilities required in your chosen career. This course is an exciting mix of physical activity, classroom learning, special visits and trips. It involves familiarisation exercises which may require attending residential visits - courses during the week and some holidays. During the course you will find out about the different functions and careers in the public services sector and we will provide opportunities for you to make applications and progress into your chosen career. The Core units are- Government, policies and the public services - Leadership and teamwork in the public services - Citizenship, Conporary society and the public service - Understanding discipline in the public services - The 12 specialist units may include- Physical preparation, health and lifestyle for the public services - Fitness, testing and training for the public services - Understand the impact of war, conflict and terrorism on the public services - Outdoor and adventurous expeditions - Crime and its effects on society - Responding to emergency incidents - Planning and management of major incidents - Custodial care services - Social welfare services - Practical team sports - During the course you will find out about the different functions and careers in the public services sector and we will provide opportunities for you to make applications and progress into your chosen career.
