AS/A Level Photography

Photography is regarded as a cross-curricular subject and is accepted by universities and colleges as a discipline showing wide-ranging ability. Students research, analyse and evaluate in exactly the same way as any other level 3 course. We deliver a broad range of photographic skills on the course that include visual language, camera techniques and Photoshop skills. All our staff have Photographic industry experience which gives our students a real advantage over other centres. We have a large stock of loan equipment available to students. The course will provide you with the visual and technical skills in order that you develop the ability to express yourself with originality and creative flair, through a variety of activities. It will teach you an understanding of research skills and appreciation of the work of other artists. The course is divided into three areas of study: LEARN THE PROCESS Visual skills and visual application. Researching skills, organisation planning and personal analysis. The use if IT and digital images with professional industry software. PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES Exposure, lighting a photographic image. Camera controls to support visual creativity. Alternative techniques for example Stop Motion and Tilt shift photography. IT SKILLS TO SUPPORT VISUAL CREATIVITY Research skills to support visual creativity. Personal development through imagery. Artistic skills in creativity. Personal expression of ideas in creativity. There is a strong emphasis on exploring the exciting artistic potential of photography. This is done through exploring various means of visual representation ranging from black and white printing, digital imagery to combining mixed media. The broad application of this medium is based upon a personal investigation into how photography functions as a creative and cultural means of communication within an historical and contemporary setting.
