This programme is designed for people looking to use their artistic, business and design skills in a retail environment.Based at our Lansdowne (Bournemouth) Campus, this course brings together a range of retail subjects. The focus is on merchandise display, store design and planning but sales, payment and purchasing skills are also developed along with IT user skills relevant to the retail industry.

Some students will find their own retail work placement, but more usually The College arranges placements for students. This lets you put your skills into practice and provides much of the evidence needed to achieve the qualification.Assessment for your Retail course is mainly through a portfolio of work. Much of the evidence in your portfolio will be based on practical observation. Equally important are written or voice recorded statements showing your understanding of the processes and theory behind your actions. Short, multiple-choice computer-based assessments also confirm your knowledge. You could also include product evidence such as photographs or plans of displays you have made, mood boards and merchandise selections. Everyones' portfolio will be different and your assessors will work with you when deciding what to include.
