The course is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in core domestic gas work and is a pre-requisite for all other gas assessments. Candidates must be Category 1 or 2 and hold relevant qualifications. Study will include Gas Safety Legislation Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures Characteristics of Combustion Ventilation Installation of Pipework and Fittings Test for Soundness Checking and/or setting Meter Regulators Identifications of Unsafe Situations The Operation of and Positioning of Emergency Isolation Controls and Valves Emergency Notices and Warning Labels Checking and setting Appliance Burner Pressures and Gas Rates The Operation and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls Flueing Standards / Flue Testing Installation of Open Balanced and Fan Assisted Flue Assemblies Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Appliances and CPA1.
