Painting and Decorating - Level 3

This course is designed for students who are interested in developing /advancing their technical skills in Painting & Decorating. The course has a range of exciting content where you will have the opportunity to test your ability and advance your skills against the complex surfaces within the Painting & Decorating workshop . You will understand how to estimate materials and price up jobs and learn how to be competitive within the industry. You will produce specialist decorative effects and install centre pieces and coving and hang specialist wall coverings as well as all other traditional aspects of painting & decorating. Some learners from the course will be chosen to represent the college at local and national skills competitions.Tutors will support learners into real life work placements that will help you to develop your understanding of what the industry is about whilst preparing you for the world of work. The colleges excellent links with employers could open the door to employment with training in the form of an Apprenticeship or fulltime employment. Health and safety is paramount within the industry and you will be trained in all aspects of this to ensure that you are kept safe throughout the programme and all work placements.See below for bullet points of the main areas that you will study:-Using access and tower scaffolds safelyInstalling centre pieces and coving Technical drawing and diagrams/stencils for producing specialist painted decorative workApply and rectify Airless and HVLP spray systemsReplicating marble and producing wood graining effectsApplying specialist wall-coverings to a staircase also ceilings archways reveals and columnsAll students will either gain or enhance their existing English and Maths qualifications that will help them to progress to higher levels in the same or different trade areas. These skills are essential and there is a particularly common thread of mathematics that runs through all construction qualifications.
