Is the course right for me? Are you positive, caring and enthusiastic? Whether you have recently completed your Diploma in Caring for Children Level 1 or are new to the sector and keen to learn new skills, our course offers a fascinating insight into the areas of childcare, learning and development. What will I be doing? Our course combines classroom lessons with hands-on learning. You will study a range of childcare topics, including communication skills, and health and safety. You will learn how children play and how to keep them safe through preparing and maintaining secure and hygienic play environments. You will also gain an understanding of childhood development, from birth up to sixteen years of age! This will involve looking at different aspects of growth, including physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. You will complete a number of work placements that will help you gain practical experience of interacting with children. This will include a minimum of 300 hours of work experience during the course. We will help you find suitable placements in a range of different childcare settings including nurseries, reception classes, pre-schools and childminders. Your tutor will visit you during this time to offer support and to assess your progress.
