Chemistry is fundamental to our understanding of what we and our environment are made of and how living and other natural processes work. Without chemistry we would not have the modern materials essential for making things like mobile phones and digital cameras, our water supplies would be unsafe to drink and agriculture would be less efficient. Even cooking a meal involves chemistry. The world needs chemists to help solve problems such as climate change, and the need to develop new fuels and medicines.
