We work in partnership with the Idsall School Skills Centre to deliver vocational qualifications and apprenticeships in vehicle maintenance and repair. The Idsall School Skills Centre is a brand new purpose built facility, designed to provide young people looking to enter the motor industry, with a high quality, practical and classroom-based, learning experience. People undertaking this qualification are likely to be working in a service technician type role, carrying out routine maintenance and basic repairs, as well as identifying and reporting faults. This page will provide you with all the information you need to know about the ‘light vehicle maintenance and repair’ qualification at level 2, whether you: •are planning to recruit a mechanic to your workplace •have existing staff that need to undertake this training •are planning to start a career as a mechanic through an apprenticeship There may be funding available to cover course costs depending on your existing qualifications. Candidates will have an assessor who will visit them at work on a regular basis to document progress through observations, discussions and witness testimonies from managers. Candidates will work towards qualifications either through the certificate/diploma only route or an Apprenticeship.
