Diploma in Skills for The Fashion Industries Level 2 - Diploma

You will learn about the creative and practical processes involved in the development of fashion and clothing. The course includes the study of fashion design methods, research methods, colour and texture, fabrics and materials, drawing and illustration, sewing skills, pattern cutting, garment construction, computer software for fashion and presentation techniques. You will also study how the fashion industries operate, and learn about production, branding, retailing and the markets for fashion products. English, maths and IT are an important aspect of the course. The course will develop your ability to work in a professional context and, will help you identify the fashion fashion industry job that best suits your abilities and aspirations. You will learn in a variety of ways - through talks and demonstrations, by completing practical tasks and projects, and through tutorials and independent study sessions. The course is based at Newham Colleges East Ham Campus (ten minutes away from East Ham tube station) in modern, well equipped fashion design studios and production workshops. Some sessions may take place at the Colleges Fashion and Textile Museum. You will take part in an induction process at the beginning of the course.
