You will develop the four key skills of reading listening writing and speaking that you started at GCSE. Your grammatical knowledge will also be stretched as there is a strong emphasis on language learning e.g grammar vocabulary syntax and translation. You will also improve your ability to communicate both in speaking and writing by studing and discussing a range of topics. At AS Level the topics include The media (television advertising communication technology) Popular culture (cinema music fashion and trends) Healthy living and lifestyles sport exercise health and wellbeing holidays family and relationships (relationships within the family friendships marriage and partnerships). At A2 level you will study a further three major topics the environment (e.g global warming renewable energies) the multicultural society (immigration integration and racism) contemporary social issues (wealth and poverty law and order scientific progress) plus 2 cultural topics (a region a period of 20th century an author a dramatist a director).
