Game Keeping Apprenticeship

A gamekeeping apprenticeship is the ideal way to earn money whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. The provision is open to anyone aged 16+ years provided that you meet current eligibility. You must be fully employed in your chosen career path and hold a genuine interest in your area of work, demonstrating enthusiasm and a strong determination to succeed. Ideal if: you already work in or would like to work in game and wildlife management. You'll need: two GCSEs at grade D or above, or relevant prior experience. You'll need to be employed in the industry, but if you are not, we may be able to help you find an employer. You'll learn: how to assist in game shooting activities, control vertebrate pests and predators and enforce appropriate predator control. You'll also learn about game populations and habitats, how to improve game and wildlife habitats and about management of public relations and gaining access to a sporting event. Expect: to undertake further specialist pathways of your choice relating to: fisheries, deer, game birds, heather burning, use of chemical means of pest control or handling and care of animals. You'll also work towards a level 2 functional skills qualification in English and mathematics. You'll love: earning money while gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You'll go onto: employment in game and wildlife management or further study at level 3 on our Countryside and Wildlife. Management Extended Diploma.
