This course is suitable for 16 to 18 year olds who want to have a taste of the hospitality industry. The knowledge,understanding and skills learnt in studying a BTEC First will aid progression to further study and prepare you to enter the workplace in due course. In the hospitality industry, typical employment opportunities may include working as a bar person, chef, cleaner, concierge, conference and banqueting assistant/manager, hotel porter,hotel receptionist, receptionist and waiter or waitress. Example of the units are: Introducing the Hospitality Industry , Working in the Hospitality Industry, Delivering the Hospitality Customer Experience. Food Safety and Health and Safety in Hospitality, How the Hospitality Industry Contributes to Healthy Lifestyles, Teamwork in Hospitality. Work Experience in Hospitality, Hospitality Research Project, Sales and Merchandising in Hospitality, Food and Beverage Service in the Hospitality Industry, Front Office Services in the Hospitality Industry, Marketing and Promotion in Hospitality and Planning and Running a Hospitality Event. Assignments, case studies, work experience log , internal and external exams, work experience, are part of the course. It is also a requirement during the main course to update your skills in Maths and English.
