The units covered include: - Planning and preparing to teach (incorporating the PTLLS requirements) - Bases of learning and teaching - Assessment and evaluation - Context and curriculum - Professional practice - Observed practice Eight hours a week core teaching, with separate tutorial time allocated for 1:1 support and workshops. Students will be required to undertake one day a week teaching. This ensures students have time to adapt to the course, the assignment workload and time taken to prepare for lessons. The first 5/6 weeks will be shadowing another member of staff, and then co-teaching with the aim that towards term three the trainee teacher is preparing and delivering a full day. The teaching placements will be internal volunteer teaching placements and/or voluntary or paid hours within a post compulsory setting (which must be approved prior to placement).
