Sugarcraft and Cake Decorating - beginners

This course is designed for students who would like to learn the skills needed to cover a cake with marzipan, fondant icing and decorate it with different techniques. Learn the techniques of brush embroidery, frilling, painting on icing, piping, modelling fruit and some basic sugar flower techniques. For the first session please bring a 6/7 cake of your choice. A 8/9 drum cake board (this is the deeper type. Size depends on cake as needs to be 2 larger than cake), 750 gms. marzipan, 1kg ready to roll fondant icing (this can be bought from Tesco, Sainsburys etc. and can be their make or a proprietary brand), a rolling pin, a sharp knife and apron. Please bring a pastry mat or similar to roll out on and a container for the cake home in, 20 of 1 ribbon to go around the cake and 26 of 0.5 ribbon to go around the edge of the board (the ribbon needs to be in a colour to compliment your cake/flowers), Icing sugar to dust rolling board and any sugar craft cutters/boards/equipment you may have. Please bring GBP5 to cover cost of extra equipment. For the second week you will need to bring back the fruit cake and bring a small Madeira cake to cover and stack on top. Each week you will be informed about what you need to bring for the following week.
