Photography - how to use your compact camera

On this course learners will explore the automatic settings on their cameras and understand what the symbols mean and when it is appropriate to use them. Image composition will also be a big topic on this course so prepare to get creative! We will touch on some of the technical aspects of digital photography for those with cameras that allow for manual control. (Do not worry if your camera does not as there are still valuable lessons that can be learnt from this that will help you in your photography). On this course you will learn the essence and fundamentals of digital photography; study image composition and how to use an environment to help enhance your photography; explore your cameras and understand its features and functions; practice shooting techniques; understand the difference between what makes a photo look average and what makes a photo look great; look at photographs taken by established photographers and what makes them work. For the first session please bring your camera, your camera's manual, your battery fully charged and a spare if you have one and a note book and pen
