Genealogy - beginners

The course is designed to provide information and resources to help you make progress with your tree, whether you`re a complete beginner or have done some work already and don`t know where to go next. Computers will be available but you are welcome to bring your own device if you wish. The course includes the use of website www.ancestry.co.uk - in class and at home but this is not essential. You are able to follow the course without the internet. The main topics covered will be the use of birth, marriage and death certificates; censuses; parish registers; burial records; passenger records; immigration records; using websites; searching online; further reading and sources of help. All students will need an A4 ring-binder and copies of information they already possess, such as family trees and certificates.
