Health and Social Care BTEC Diploma (90 Credits)

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma has been designed to provide candidates with high quality industry recognised qualifications geared to the specific requirements of key sectors. This course will prepare you for work in a range of careers in the Health and Social Care sector. You will study a variety of topics all related to health and/or social care. The course covers a broad range of subjects relevant to the caring professions including eight mandatory units and a further four optional units which must be completed by all candidates: 1. Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care, 2. Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care, 3. Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care, 4. Development Through the Life Stages, 5. Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care, 6. Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care, 7. Sociological Perspectives for Health and Social Care, 8. Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care. Adding up to 80 credits for the mandatory units. Plus additional units including covering a wide range of subject material to total 120 credits for the Diploma, and a 180 credits to achieve the Extended Level 3 Diploma. The course aims to enhance candidates to work to quality care practice. The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care have been developed to recognise candidates- skills, knowledge and understanding of the health, and social care sector and the settings, job roles, principles and values involved. Students who progress from Level 2 courses and who do not hold a level C or above in either Maths or English, are expected to take these as an additional study area, especially if they are planning to progress into nursing or teaching.
