Swindon College offers the Foundation Degree in Business, Management and Communications in partnership with Oxford Brookes University. The Foundation Degree in Business, Management and Communications is designed to appeal to those students who are interested in a career in marketing, finance, human resources or general management. The programme can be undertaken part time over three years or full time over two years. Students will be challenged by topical, up-to-date information and asked to evaluate it in their assignments and presentations. Embedded in the course will be themes such as business ethics, environmental issues and equality of opportunity. Students will be encouraged to develop business acumen, critical sensibilities and entrepreneurial skills that will equip them in their future careers. The 14 modules are assessed mainly through assignments and presentations. The Business Project unit provides an opportunity to consider, in-depth, an agreed project of their choice. There is strong tutorial support to encourage and guide students in this module. Students will be assigned a personal tutor who will support them through the course. All students have access to facilities at Oxford Brookes University, as well as at Swindon College. The following 14 modules are studied:- Fundamentals of Business, Management Concepts, Customer Communications, Personal Development (double module), Business and the Environment, Managing Work Performance, Information for Business, Accounting for Business, Strategic Management, External Communications, Research Skills, Business Project (double module), Management of Financial Systems for Business, Developing Management Capabilities.
