D678 - The aim of the course is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learner's understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for a child. Learners will need to complete a range of units to achieve the qualification. The units will cover both personal development and the development and growth of babies and young children. They also explore: Human growth & development of children Understanding play and learning How to communicate with children Respecting & valuing children Creative activities Safeguarding the welfare of children You will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience with electronic babies and take part in a work placement. Level 2 Children & Young People's Workforce Certificate This qualification does not qualify learners to practice in the workplace. However it does support them in preparing for the 'next step' either in training or moving towards the world of work. After further study you can progress into careers with children such as Nursery/Playgroup Assistant, Nanny, Play Worker, Teaching Assistant, Early Years and Primary Teaching.
