The Health Practice Management Foundation Degree is designed for those working or wishing to work running and administering the operational, administration and business aspects of a Doctor's or Dentist's Practice. For example, students may already be working in an administrative role in a doctor's practice as a practice manager or aspiring to become a practice manager. This programme was developed and is delivered and assessed by Peter Symonds College awarded by and quality assured by Middlesex University. Successful completion of this two year course will lead to a Foundation Degree in Health Practice Management from Middlesex University This programme combines the development of business skills within the context of overseeing and running a practice/department/section, allowing students to develop knowledge and understanding of how their decisions will impact on the organisations objectives. Students will gain knowledge of how to run these businesses in an efficient and cost effective manner whilst maintaining customer satisfaction and staff morale. The work-based modules in year 1 and 2 will allow students to focus on their own organisation and further specialisation. There are two modes of attendance for this course: Standard: Each year will be divided into three terms of approximately 12 weeks. College attendance is for one afternoon and evening a week (1:30-7:30pm) over 2 years. The overall hours that you attend the course are not dissimilar to what you would experience at university. We teach for 34 weeks per year, many university teaching years are much shorter than this e.g. Middlesex University teaches for 22 weeks per year. Flexible: Attendance at college is a mixture of 4 working days and 4 Saturdays each year. This mode of attendance has significantly more online learning and each student will be assigned an 'online learning tutor'.
