Visitors to Greece: including Lord Byron

Many wealthy men in the eighteenth century went on a great tour and returned with pieces of sculpture and other treasures from ancient Greece and Italy, with which adorned their houses. We shall consider in detail the doings of Lord Byron and how his marbles came to the British Museum. We shall then turn to the Greek war of independence and in particular Lord Byron's part and that other foreigners, eventually the kingdom of Greece was established.
