My Favourite Operas-and Why!

UPDATED 20150805 17:43:50

This course is not (just) an exercise is self indulgence, but having been an opera goer for nearly 70 years and having seen at least over 200 different operas, I find that I have very catholic tastes. Hence the course will look at a variety of operatic styles ranging from the 16th to the 20th century and include Italian, German, Slav and English works. Expect Monteverdi, Mozart Wagner, Verdi, Puccini Janacek and Britten - and which operas? Come along and find out and, should you so wish, during the course prepare your own list and share them with the class.
