Music: The Operas of Mozart

UPDATED 20150805 17:10:00

Everyone has heard or seen at least some part of an opera by Mozart, e.g. The Magic Flute or The Marriage of Figaro. This course will present in some detail both the most popular and some of the less well-known operas of Mozart to broaden and deepen knowledge of his operatic output. By putting each opera into its social and historical context this course will also give some insight into Mozart's life and times from his time as a child prodigy to his life as a musician and composer in Salzburg and Vienna, at the heart of the then-mighty Austrian Empire.
