History of Art: Impressionism - A New Way of Painting

Impressionism is often described as the first modern art movement. This course will explore the history and development of Impressionism through a detailed examination of some of the best know works by the best loved artists from this period, such as Monet, Renoir and Degas. We will attempt to place this art within the larger social and political context of the time.
