These distracted times: Britain 1603-1689

James I and VI was welcomed in 1603, but by 1642 the relationship between King and country had broken down, resulting in Civil War, the execution of the King and the establishment of a Commonwealth. Eleven years later the heir, Charles II, was welcomed home, but thirty years after that some were again looking for another ruler and the legitimate king fled.
