Philosophy: inventing the Self

UPDATED 20150805 16:23:54

Reinventing yourself is increasingly seen as possible and desirable in Western societies, and is experienced as liberating by many. Using philosophical thinking the course considers the implications of self-invention, and asks whether there are or should be limitations to inventing the self. Topics include reinventing gender identity and online identities. No prior knowledge of philosophy expected.
